Abstract: The research study delved into the correlation between literacy rates and crimes against women in India, utilizing data from the Open Government Data (OGD) Platform India. State-wise Literacy census data for 2001 and 2011, along with State-wise Crime rates against women for the same years, were meticulously analysed. Through statistical analysis and hypothesis testing, the study aimed to uncover potential associations between literacy levels and incidents of violence against women. The findings revealed a strong positive correlation between higher literacy rates and lower crime rates against women, underscoring the role of education in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
