In recent times, a lot has been said about trends and policies which threaten the future of Classics in general and the teaching of Ancient History in particular. This debate has primarily arisen in the United States, as a response to the request of some academics and colleges to "decolonise" a discipline that is deemed to be representative of white supremacism. In Italy, some voices have been raised to remark the alleged uselessness of such a decolonisation in a context, which is thought not to reflect the structural inequalities of the American educational system.
