The COVID-19 Pandemic and Online Education Revolution: A Comprehensive Survey

Abstract: This research, conducted by the EdTech Research Association, explores the multifaceted impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education, specifically focusing on the transition to online learning across various educational levels in India. The study, led by faculty members with active collaboration from co-author Kavita Roy, utilizes a robust cross-sectional survey methodology involving a massive sample of 1,000,000 students. The research spans the educational spectrum, encompassing K-12, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, and employs a diverse set of research tools, including structured questionnaires, Likert scale assessments, and open-ended inquiries. The investigation scrutinizes key aspects such as reasons for the shift to online education, the effectiveness of online modalities, challenges faced, and future preferences. The findings reveal universal safety concerns as a driving force for the transition, with nuances in preferences and challenges emerging across different educational tiers.
