Mobilidade estudantil dos residentes colombianos em Rennes, França: perfil dos migrantes e razões para esta escolha (2018-2019)

International audienceThis article is based on a sociological research conducted in France, that sought to find the key elements to understand the reasons for the progressive and significant increase of students of Colombian origin at the Université Rennes 2, located in the Bretagne region. From the analysis of statistical data from the Observatoire de la Mobilité Internationale and the Institut National d’Études Démographiques (ined), and the re-search of the profile and motivations of Colombian students arriving in Rennes, this work allowed a better understanding of the effects of globalization and internationalization of higher education (De Wit, 2011) on Colombian students, where migration becomes a way to achieve social mobility for this group. France is one of the European countries that allows study mobility projects to materialize, thanks to the easy access to higher education for international students, the assistance they can receive, linked to accommodation and food, and the advantages available to students to perform jobs in the “service” sector (cleaning, catering, care, etc.), at the same time they study. This article focuses on two central points of the research. First, the profile or individual characteristics of Colombian students who decide to leave for France, among which we can highlight mainly economic and social factors, that would be the reasons that led individuals to make the decision to migrate. In second place, we delve into the elements that are relevant at choosing the city to arrive, evidencing the reason for the decision to arrive in Rennes. To conclude, the main reflections obtained after analysing these elements, three aspects related to the increase of Colombian students in the city of Rennes are distinguished, those are linked to the profile of the students who arrive in France, the factors that motivate them to leave their home country and the elements that influence the choice of Rennes as a host city.El presente artículo es redactado a partir de una investigación de carácter sociológico realizada en Francia, la cual buscaba encontrar los elementos claves para comprender el porqué del aumento progresivo e importante de estudiantes de origen colombiano en la Université Rennes 2, ubicada en la región de Bretagne. A partir del análisis de los datos estadísticos del Observatoire de la Movilité Internationale y del Institut National d’Études Démographiques (ined); del estudio del perfil y las motivaciones de los estudiantes colombianos que llegaban a Rennes, este trabajo permitió comprender mejor los efectos de la globalización y de la internacionalización de la educación superior (De Wit, 2011) en los estudiantes colombianos, donde la migración se convierte en un medio para lograr la movilidad social de dicho grupo. Francia es uno de los países europeos que permite que los proyectos de movilidad por estudios se materialicen, gracias al fácil acceso a la educación superior para los estudiantes internacionales, la asistencia que pueden recibir, vinculada al alojamiento y la alimentación y las facilidades que disponen los estudiantes para realizar trabajos en el sector “servicios” (aseo, restauración, cuidados, etc.), al mismo tiempo que sus estudios. Este artículo se enfoca en dos puntos centrales de la investiga-ción. En primer lugar, el perfil o características individuales de los estudiantes colombia-nos que deciden partir a Francia, entre los cuales podemos destacar factores económicos y sociales principalmente, que serían los factores que llevan a los individuos a tomar la decisión de migrar. En segundo lugar, se profundiza en los elementos que son relevantes al momento de elegir la ciudad donde llegar, evidenciando el porqué de la decisión de llegar a Rennes. Para finalizar, en las principales reflexiones que se obtuvieron luego de analizar estos elementos se distinguen tres aspectos relacionados con el incremento de los estudiantes colombianos en la ciudad Rennes que están ligados al perfil de los estudiantes que llegan a dicha ciudad, los factores que los motivan a salir de su país de origen y los elementos que influencian en la elección de Rennes como ciudad de acogida
