Automated Facial Expression Recognition (FER) has attracted significant interest over the last few years in the field of computer vision, with a wide range of applications ranging from humanmachine interaction to security, education, and healthcare. Transfer learning techniques allow to use models trained for pattern recognition in a given domain/ task and use their learned features to enhance their performance in a different task. This has become the fastest and most adopted way to train Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the task of FER.
