We investigated the relationship between training and teaching of mathematics teachers at the upper secondary level of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. We give an account of the results obtained with a learning ecology model based on the research-action method, which included five moments: awareness, reflection, innovation design, intervention and evaluation. The purpose was to develop skills to improve teaching through collaborative work in learning communities.
