Those on Sir Robert Peel, Mr. Henry Reeve, and Dean Milman were written for the Edinburgh review. The essay on 'Queen Victoria as a moral force' appeared first in the Pall Mall magazine; 'Carlyle's message to his age,' in the Contemporary review.
