This Model Act, drafted by Prashant Narang, Jayana Bedi, and Meghna Sharma of Centre for Civil Society, proposes comprehensive amendments to the existing Street Vendors Act. Presented to the Departmental Committee on 27 October 2020, the draft Act aims to strengthen the protection of livelihoods for street vendors and enhance the regulatory framework governing street vending activities. It seeks to address the gaps and challenges identified in the implementation of the current legislation, ensuring more effective enforcement and inclusive participation of street vendors in the urban economy.
