The objective of this study was to monitor the behavior of fly ash originated from the power plant Nikola Tesla as a low cost absorbent for removal of copper ions from synthetic aqueous solutions. Fly ash, a potentional hazardous solid waste produced as a by-product in power plants worldwide in million tones, has attracted researchers' interest for years. Chemical composition and physical properties of sorbent are shown. As a method, batch adsorption procedure was applied. The effect of contact time, initial metal concentration and adsorbent amount were studied and optimal parameters were determined. The effectiveness of fly ash as adsorbent is evident
