This chapter overviews the process that guides the definition of the urban freight transport plan (UFTP), moving from the indications provided by the mass of literature on this topic. Starting from the general identification of the plan dimensions, the specific dimensions of the urban freight transport plan are discussed. On this basis, the circular process by which the UFTP is theorised, drafted and developed/implemented and evaluated is presented. In this general framework, the European indications for UFTP are also recalled
