Human toxocariasis is a zoonotic infection which characteristically presents either as visceral or ocular disease. Some patients are asymptomatic. The real incidence of symptomatic infection and its natural history, and the likelihood of congenital infection, are unknown. Collaboration between clinicians, epidemiologists and microbiologists should help to resolve these questions.</p
