Evidence is produced here for the appearance and location of the sepulchral monument of John Walters, rector of Catfield in Norfolk from 1460 until 1478. Walters’s monument is interesting because it incorporated a brass inscription which recorded his responsibility for reconstruction of the chancel of Catfield church in 1471. Another point of interest is the deliberate preservation of this brass in the early seventeenth century by a later rector, Anthony Harison, an act recorded in the church’s register. The article also includes observations about surviving and lost medieval monuments at Catfield
