Allergic rhinitis (AR) affects both the quality of life and daily functioning of a patient. Carefully selected personalized therapy determines good management of disease symptoms. In the latest update of the ARIA (Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma) guidelines, the algorithm for therapeutic management is based on the assessment of a patient’s condition with the use of a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), therefore adopting an approach which involves either escalation (step up) or reduction (step down) of treatment.
