The priesthood of the Christian family is rooted in the family\u27s participation in the mission of the Church through Baptism, and consists of the sacrifice of filial obedience to the will of the Father in all things. The Christian family exercises this priesthood through the sacraments, through prayer, and through spiritual sacrifices offered by each member of the family. The doctrine of the priesthood of the Christian family is found in Vatican Council IT documents and in a supplement to these requested by the Council Fathers--Familiaris Consortia (The Role of the Christian Family in the Modern World). In this essay, I will discuss 1) the nature of the Christian family, and 2) the priesthood of the Christian family
