A well-collimated electron beam moves across a discharge tube. The line along which the beam moves can be observed by the glow on the fluorescent material that it strikes. When a horseshoe magnet is placed over the electron beam, the force on the electrons as they move in the magnetic field can be seen by the deflection of the electrons, as observed in the video and in Figure 1.
