Abstract Background Obesity is a risk factor for multiple myeloma (MM). However, we still lack knowledge on the clinical course of obese MM patients in a broad view. Methods Here, we reviewed 568 MM patients recorded in the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) coMMpass dataset. Patients were divided into the normal and obese groups according body mass index (BMI) at diagnosis, and then the baseline characteristics, cytogenetic abnormalities, treatment variability, and survival outcomes were evaluated in the obese cohort. Results We found no differences in the characteristics when comparing normal and obese MM patients other than more male in the obese part (50.4% vs. 59.9%, p = 0.024). Compared with the normal BMI patients, median ov...
