Perception of Senior High School students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute on the impact of sex education integrated in the Junior High School curriculum and their sexual attitudes

Adolescence is the developmental stage of human development that occurs physically with changes in reproductive physiology and ends mentally with the final structuring of sexuality. This study aimed to assess and understand the attitude and perceptions of senior high school students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in Dasmariñas, Cavite on the impact of sex education. This study utilized a descriptive research design and data were gathered using an adapted questionnaire. 150 respondents were surveyed through google forms and other online platforms. All the respondents were above 18 years old and dominated by females. Accordingly, with a mean score of 4.21 the respondents acknowledged the impact of comprehensive sexuality education among senior high school students. Furthermore, sexual attitudes, such as permissiveness, communion, and instrumentality, were moderate among the respondents. On the other hand, the study revealed that the respondents have a low level of Responsibility. As a result, it can presume that DLSMHSI SHS students have a favorable opinion and outlook on comprehensive sexuality education in the Philippines, as well as moderate to low scores in sexual attitudes, albeit the latter is expected to change with time. As a recommendation, future researchers can focus on other groupings and categorization of students or individuals, such as local region and social class, when comparing their perceived impact of sex education and sex attitudes
