BACKGROUND: Essential tremor (ET) is a common slowly-progressive neurologic disorder. It is predominantly characterized by kinetic tremors involving bilateral upper limbs. Although ET shares motor similarities with Parkinson disease (PD), there is no known relationship between ET and PD. METHODS: We studied white matter differences between 17 ET and 68 PD patients using standard diffusion tensor imaging and fixel-based analysis (FBA).
