Studies on relationships between some blood parameters (transferrin, hemoglobin, glutathione, testosteron) and live weight gain in Karacabey Merino lambs

The purpose of this study was to find out testosterone levels of Karacabey Merino Lambs (male) and demonstrate their relationships with live weight gain. In this study 88 Karacabey Merino lambs were used as research material. At the end of 3 months feeding period, the average live weight of the animals was 53.60 kg. Plasma samples were analysed for testosterone levels by radioimmunoassay technique. Mean plasma free testosterone concentration of the lambs was 8.43 pg/ml. Animals were divided into three groups according to their testosterone levels and tlıe findings were correlated with live weight gains. Asa result there was no statistically important relationship between testosterone level and liue weight gain in the lambs tested.Bu araştırma Merinos erkek kuzularda besi performansı ile testosteron düzeyi arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığını belirlemek için yapıldı. Araştırmada materyal olarak 88 baş merinos kuzu kullanıldı. Kuzuların besi sonu canlı ağırlık ortalaması 53.60 kg olarak bulundu. Plazma örnekleri radyo·immunoassay yöntemiyle testosteron düzeyleri yönünden incelendi. Kuzularda ortalama free testosteron düzeyi 8.43 pg/ml olarak belirlendi. Üç ayrı grup olarak belirlenen testosteron düzeyleri ile canlı ağırlık artışları karşılaştırıldı. Sonuç olarak testosteron düzeyleri ile besi sonu canlı ağırlık artışı arasında istatistik bakımdan önemli bir ilişki bulunamadı
