Intermittent fasting (IF) has garnered attention for its potential to promote health and combat chronic diseases. This study focused on the effects of Ramadan fasting, a form of IF observed by Muslims, on renal and liver function markers, anthropometric measurements, and dietary intake in healthy overweight and obese men. The study involved 60 participants from Hargeisa, Somaliland, with an average age of 40.01 ± 7.99 years. Results revealed significant reductions in body weight (P ≤ 0.001), waist circumference (P ≤ 0.001), and body mass index (P ≤ 0.001) after Ramadan fasting.
