Abstract: Objectives: Stroke can trigger an immune response that can raise the risk of infection, alter tracheal epithelium, reduce pulmonary clearance and impair secretions drainage capacity. Infection, altered tracheal epithelium, reduced pulmonary clearance, impaired secretions drainage capacity and aspiration can cause pneumonia after stroke.
