Matrimonio, movilidad social y conflictos intergeneracionales a finales del siglo XVIII. Estudios de caso a ambos lados del Atlántico

This paper will analyze the problems that arose between parents and children in the Eighteenth Century around the issue of marriage. Cases belonging to different social groups in the Iberian and American territories of the Hispanic monarchy will be studied. It will be defended that marriage was a way to achieve social ascent that involved families, but more and more specific individuals. This situation created some social concern motivated by the growing intergenerational tension between parents and children.En este trabajo se van analizar los problemas que surgieron entre padres e hijos en el siglo XVIII en torno a la cuestión del matrimonio. Se estudiarán casos pertenecientes a distintos grupos sociales en los territorios ibéricos y americanos de la monarquía hispana. Se postulará que el matrimonio fue una vía para conseguir el ascenso social que implicaba a las familias, pero cada vez más a los individuos concretos.
