The bone is a living tissue constantly changing. From the moment of birth until the age of adulthood bone tissue grows, develops and strengthens. This process reached its maximum in the third decade of life known as peak bone mass. Over the years bone mass falters through resorption while new bone tissue replaces the previous one. This process is known as remodeling. In osteoporosis the process of resorption exceeds that of replacment with the end of mass reduction and weakening of bone quality with increased propensity for fractures.
