This article aims to contribute to the debate on the social determinants of health in traditional communities, using the Quilombola territory of São Lourenço in Goiana, Pernambuco as an example. Historically, this territory has reproduced health inequalities and inequities. For this research, a qualitative and exploratory case study method was adopted. The objective of the study was to understand, from an ecosystemic perspective, how social determinants influence the health-disease process in the community. The analytical categories used were the classes of the Social Reproduction of Health methodological approach developed by Samaja (2000; 2004).
