Le but cet article est d’examiner le développement de la compétence orthographique d’un groupe d’élèves créolophones (n = 11), suivis de la maternelle à la troisième année à travers une mesure d’orthographes approchées. Les résultats montrent que les sujets ont peu de connaissances des graphèmes orthographiques en maternelle. En première année, l’apprentissage formel concourt à l’émergence de la norme orthographique, notamment en ce qui a trait aux digrammes et aux trigrammes.
