peer-reviewedThis thesis describes novel colloidal approaches towards the synthesis of multicomponent semiconductor nanocrystals with tight control over morphology, composition and crystal phase. The thorough study of the complexity of the reaction mechanism and judicious selection of ligands and metal precursors along with temperature windows provide exquisite control over the sequential nucleation and growth events leading to the evolution of desired shapes and phase in synthesized nanocrystals. Preparation of highly monodisperse and homogenous CdSexS1-x nanorods with tunable aspect ratios is reported in Chapter 3.
