Texts, textbooks and readability

English language texts, textbooks and readability are intimately related. Textbooks employ texts as a means of teaching language competence. Learners engage with these texts as a step toward fluency in English, and in the process develop their vocabulary as well as grammatical, stylistic and pragmatic insights into language use. How can we best appreciate the content, approaches and readability inherent in a text or a textbook? The papers in this collection afford insights on the application of computer technologies in the realm of textual analysis, teaching or learning of language and are selected from submissions to the ICT in Analysis, Teaching and Learning of Languages (ICTATLL) workshop, held at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow
