Abstract

International audienceJ. and L. Jehasse, who explored the necropolis between 1960 and 1980, strongly emphasised the position of Aleria as an actual crossroads for Greeks, Etruscans and Phoenicians from Carthage before the Roman conquest in 259 BC. If the material vestiges hardly offer an ethnic reading, nevertheless they betray different origins and give a glimpse of a much wider knot of connections, not only with the whole of the Italian peninsula, but also with the Gallic and Iberian worlds, Corsica not least.
