Le travail d'intéressement des animatrices socioculturelles

International audienceBased on an ethnographic study on children’s play and leisure in dedicated institutions, this article examines, from the bottom, the supervision practices of socio-cultural animators. By studying the situations that constitute the routine of a “typical day” and the ritualized distinction between “activity” and « free time », the work accomplished by the animators is described with a focus on the “good job”. By analyzing the children’s and the animators’ engagement, it is possible to grasp the “enrollment work” that they perform on a daily basis, with varying degrees of difficulty, to create collective engagement.Partant d’une enquête ethnographique sur le jeu et le loisir des enfants dans des institutions dédiées, cet article interroge, par le bas, les pratiques d’encadrement des professionnel·le·s de l’animation socioculturelle. À travers l’étude des situations qui composent l’ordinaire d’une « journée-type » et de la distinction ritualisée entre « activité » et « temps libre », le travail effectué par les animatrices est décrit en se centrant sur le « bon boulot ». Par l’analyse des engagements des enfants et des animatrices, il est possible de saisir le « travail d’intéressement » qu’elles opèrent quotidiennement, avec plus ou moins de difficultés, pour créer des engagements collectifs
