This paper looks at the contextual definition of "crisis" in Mali, examining its conceptual potential, political force and performativity. The aim is to decipher the rhetoric of international agencies, which seem to evoke not so much the crisis as the post-crisis. In so doing, they produce a fiction that tends to replace the real, as if it were necessary to avoid thinking about the crisis by skipping a square and going straight to peace. These crisis professionals are many and varied in nature (UN, peacekeeping missions, bilateral cooperation, ECOWAS, the world of expertise, etc.).
