This thesis contributes to conversations about authorship from a feminist point of view, mainly, where autotheory is concerned. Autotheory is a capacious, feminist experimental praxis that focuses on the interplay between the personal and the theoretical that has long been a hallmark of theorising by women and otherwise marginalised authors, including those who are LGBTQ+ and/or of colour. To consider the relation between the personal and theoretical in autotheory, this thesis focuses on the figure of the author as she appears in recent texts by Claire-Louise Bennett, Dionne Brand, and Maggie Nelson.
