This thesis comprises three chapters on the competitive impact of common ownership. Chapter 1 is a survey of the literature which explains in detail the current approaches being taken, the methods being instigated, and the questions being asked. It explains that much of the current work in this area is overlooking the fundamental problems thwarting progress in our understanding of this topic and takes a vital step back to try and realign the questions being asked by this literature towards the fundamental issues in this topic.
