To respond to this unprecedented influx, the EU offered protection to displaced persons by activating the Temporary Protection Directive. Given the limited period of temporary protection, I examine the extent to which existing EU policies on asylum and migration provide a solution to the long-term status of Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
