There are two million military connected children, and every school district in the United States has at least one military connected student (Operation Educate the Educator, n.d.). This study attempts to answer the question “What do classroom teachers need to know in order to understand their military connected students?” In order to answer that question, five topics of military life are examined: moving; parental deployment; alcoholism, abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; military culture; and children of reservists and national guardsmen.
