IWAENC2008: the 11th International Workshop on Acoustic Echo and Noise Control, September 14-17, 2008, Seattle, Washington USA.In this paper, we propose a new optimization scheme of the strength of spectral subtraction based on musical noise assessment via higher-order statistics. Spectral subtraction often generates artificial distortion (so-called musical noise), and in this paper, we focus on such musical noise. Musical noise is related to the artificial tonal components in remnant noise. Thus, first, we propose a criterion to measure the generated tonal components based on noise’s kurtosis.
