Macadamias are grown commercially around the world for their edible nuts. Identifying elite macadamia breeding selections with high yield potential is difficult due to the polygenic control of the trait, and more importantly the low heritability of yield. Indirect selection for yield may be possible through identification of correlated traits that have higher heritability, and are more efficiently measured. This study aimed to investigate component traits for yield by dissecting floral and growth traits of macadamia, including: raceme length, rachis width, floret density, number of florets raceme-1, raceme density, and trunk circumference.
