Cell survival in changing environments requires appropriate regulation of gene expression, including posttranscriptional regulatory mechanisms. From reporter gene studies in glucose-starved yeast, it was proposed that translationally silenced eukaryotic mRNAs accumulate in P bodies and can return to active translation.
