Les observatoires autoroutiers : l’expérience des autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône et quelques enseignements

The french experience in the field of highways socio-economic observatories has allowed to set up investigation tools in wich new infrastructure is involved. The origin and the functioning of these tools are explained from the experience of a highway company, called APRR. The lessons we can learn from these observatories, their limits or impasses, lead to come back to the mechanisms of the interrelationships between infrastructure and space. With help of recent literature, we can suggest some new ways in order to examine these issues and theoretical and methodological review at crossing of regional science, industrial organisation and transport economics.L’expérience française des observatoires socio-économiques autoroutiers a permis la mise en place d’outils d’observation des transformations socio-spatiales dans lesquelles s’inscrit l’offre d’infrastructures nouvelles. La genèse et le fonctionnement de ces observatoires sont exposés à partir de l’expérience d’une société concessionnaire d’autoroutes, l’APRR. Les enseignements tirés de ces observatoires, leurs limites ou impasses, invitent à revenir sur les mécanismes qui régissent l’interaction infrastructures-territoires. L’appel à différents travaux tirés de la littérature permet de formuler quelques pistes nouvelles pour appréhender ces questions, et suggérer des retours théoriques et méthodologiques au croisement de l’économie spatiale, industrielle et des transports
