Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that results from an excessive immune response in the respiratory mucosa associated with a remodelling of the respiratory tract. Severe asthma (SA) is characterised by the occurrence of exacerbations despite medications. SA affects 5% of asthmatic children, and remains a heterogeneous disease whose severity, frequency of symptoms and triggering factors show high inter-individual heterogeneity. It is therefore necessary to develop personalized medicine, which requires the precise definition of each clinical phenotype and the understanding of the associated endotypes.
