In this project, we detail the design, fabrication, and assembly of a quad-rotor Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) specifically tailored for delivering sensors to challenging environments. While our primary focus is equipping the UAS with gas sensors for manhole inspections and cameras for surveys, our progress has been concentrated on the design and fabrication of structural components and the sensor deployment mechanism, and initial flight tests. Upcoming work will include Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of the vehicle structure and the formulation of a mathematical model predicting power consumption, range, endurance, and motor performance during varied flight phases.
