Glioblastoma (GBM) is a hypoxic tumor also characterized by infiltrated macrophages (which can represent up to 50% of tumor mass). Hypoxia favors the formation of pro-tumor M2 macrophages. Thus, strategies aiming at reducing hypoxia should promote the presence of anti-tumor M1 macrophages. Among the tumor-specific reoxygenation strategies, we have recently developed an approach based on zeolites nanoparticles. These nanovectors are capable of carrying hyperoxic and / or hyperbaric gases and of releasing them as a function of the gradient outside the zeolite.
