An analys of experimental results shows that the performance of the subsonic diffuser correlates with the geometric parameters (total divergence angle, area ratio, aspect ratio) and the inlet flow conditions. However, a complete investigation of the effect of these parameter on diffuser performance was not carried out. In this paper, the problems of the flow mechanism in diffusers and the performance of wide angle diffusers are reviewed. Boundary layer suction, blowlng, vortex generators, and vanes at diffuser inlet in wide angle diffusers for improving the perfromance are discussed, and it is indicated that the flow losses in diffusers are effectively improved by one or more of above methods of boundary layer control introduced into the dif...
