Lesbians and gay men have historically been the victims of overt discrimination, hatred, and institutionalized homophobia. This victimization may lead to problems in lesbian and gay men\u27s psychological health. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors that may impact psychological adjustment. It was found that lesbians and gay men who accepted their sexual orientation, self-disclosed their sexual orientation to others, and felt a high level of social support felt pleased with most aspects of their lives, felt psychologically strong and well adjusted, and felt low levels of depression and anxiety.
