One of the most important performance indices for an automatic control system is the speed ofresponse which refers to the time taken by the system to respond to the given input or externaldisturbance. The design of reliable fast-acting control systems is a challenging engineering problem,for the solution of which various theoretical methods are developed. However, due to the complexityof the required stability analysis, none of the existing approaches provides a simple and constructivealgorithm for calculating the parameters of a control system.
