This doctoral thesis concerns the synthesis and photophysical studies of several organic fluorophores. For the first part, the study focuses on the BODIPYs backbone, precisely on [a]-fused-dibenzoBODIPYs. Different substitutions are described, most notably on the fusion of furane, flavone and thiophene on the scaffold. This chapter also features the photophysical properties of the obtained compounds. In the second part, the focus was the synthesis and study of new β-carboline derivatives. The study mainly focuses on the position 1 substitution. Those compounds show unexpected protonation response, allowing a large bathochromic and hyperchromic shift of the absorption and large Stokes shift.
