As part of my thesis, I develop a reflection on the Foäche family, Havais slave owners, a dynasty of planters linked to the great trade of the eighteenth century (Black trade, trade in goods and ship armaments). What strategies are the Foäche developing in order to develop their trade, which flourishes and prospers in the eighteenth century, until the burning of Santo Domingo? By what process do the Foäche, initially slave owners, owners of a trading house in Le Havre, become empire notables, after the prohibition of the slave trade? We will study the evolution of the Foäche family business until the bankruptcy of their trading house.
