World energy consumption, especially from fossil origin, continuously increases as a result of rapid population growth and industrial development. In order to meet this growing demand for energy in a sustainable way, Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS) is an alternative solution of converting bio-based synthetic gas (H2/CO) into liquid hydrocarbons with a low environmental impact. This synthesis gas can be produced by gasification of biomass or by catalytic reforming of biogas from anaerobic digestion. FTS is a highly exothermic process and may encounter problems related to pressure drop in fixed bed tubular reactors.
