A method is proposed to optimize the measurements in the range of very high temperature, from 1500 to 2500 °C, in view of its application to nuclear reactors severe accident experimental research. This approach has been developed according to three topics: experimental method of pyroreflectometry, analytic evaluation of uncertainties, numerical modelling of experimental configurations. The temperature assessment of a liquid material at very high temperature by optical pyrometry is directly linked to the knowledge of its emissivity.
