Research on the Affective Aspect of Imagery

埼玉県越谷市The purposes of this study are to know the structure of affective aspect of imagery, and to make clear the relations among 30 objects to the affective imagery. For studying this the list of paired words was devised; one was the object word which contains 30 words including FATHER, MOTHER, BROTHER, FAMILY, SOCIAL and so on, the other was the affective imagery word which contains 8 words, JOY, HOPE, LOVE, ASTONISHMENT, SORROW, FEAR, ANGER and DISGUST. Subjects were 66 male and 61 female students in the Bunkyo University. They were required to image the object and as to the feeling of the affective imagery to the object they were required to choice the fittest scaling point. Rating scale for each paired word had 5 scaling point which were VERY INTIMATE, SOMETHING INTIMATE, SOMETHING SO AND SOMETHING LESS SO, MOSTLY NOT INTIMATE and NOT INTIMATE AT ALL. The result of study firstly suggested that 8 affective imagery could classify three groups; plus or positive, neural, minus or negative feeling. Secondly, it showed that there could be seven groups of the object and in each group objects had meaningful correlations each other
