In this research note I have summarized current situation of stable food supply of the Japanese society and future tasks to create an sustainable society in Japan. The self-sufficiency ratio of food in Japan became less than 40% in 2007. To improve food self-sufficiency ratio and stable supply of safe food, conservation and wise use of rural resources should be encouraged. Productivity of food resources in the world has come to decrease than reached it maximum level. To improve productivity of them, both traditional and modern agricultural technologies should be used wisely
